To become a seller on Second Skin, our payment provider, Stripe, needs to know your bank details, and needs to verify your identity.
To set up your payment details, go to the 'Account' menu and click 'Payouts'. If you're on mobile, the 'Account' menu appears as three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the screen.
From there, click 'Payout preferences' then 'Add bank details'.
Next, enter your name, date of birth, and country of residence. The additional information needed will depend on where you live, but will typically be your address, phone number, and bank details.
Why does Stripe need to verify my identity or home address?
Depending on your country, our payment provider, Stripe, is legally obligated to verify your identity or home address. This is to comply with laws and regulations that prevent money laundering, tax evasion, and other financial crimes.
The proof needed varies by country, but could be one of the following:
Another Government-issued ID card
Occasionally, Stripe will require you to confirm or amend the information they have regarding your ID or address. These checks are not a cause for concern. They are part of a routine process that ensures their platform (and by extension, ours) is compliant with financial law.
Who stores this data?
Second Skin does not store any of this personal information. It is passed securely to our payment provider, Stripe, who handles the verification of your identity and address.
