Buying on Second Skin is simple and secure.

Summary

  • Step 1: Find an item you love.

  • Step 2: Request to buy.

  • Step 3: Mark your transaction as complete.

  • Step 4: Leave feedback.

  • Step 5: Enjoy your new item!

You can find more detailed info below and in our other help articles.

Step 1: Find an item you love

Our site is easy to navigate. Listings are grouped into high level categories:

  • Leather

  • Rubber

  • Headgear

  • Textile

  • Footwear

  • Fetish Play

  • Sports & Underwear

  • Miscellaneous

You can search for items in your specific country, or 'Everywhere'.

You can also filter listings for size and condition to narrow down your search.

You can 'Favourite' items by clicking on the heart icon next to the listing. Favourited items will then appear in your 'Wishlist' located on the top menu.

Step 2: Request to buy an item

When you find something you want to buy, click the BUY button. This will send a message to the buyer letting them know that you're interested in their item.

Sellers have 3 days to accept or reject a buyer's request. If they take no action within 3 days, we will automatically cancel your request. We do this to prevent situations in which you request to buy an item, forget about it, and the sellers accepts a long time later.

IMPORTANT: When you request to buy an item, no money is taken out of your account. Your bank will “pre-authorise” the payment, which basically means they earmark the money for this purchase. It does not leave your account.

Money will only leave your account if the seller accepts your request within the 3 day window.

If the seller rejects your request or they do not respond within 3 days, you do not need to request a refund. No money has actually been withdrawn from your account. Your bank will automatically remove the pre-authorisation and the funds will become available again soon. The exact amount of time it takes to remove the pre-authorisation will depend on your bank, but it shouldn’t be more than a few days.

Step 3: Mark your transaction as complete, or raise a dispute

If the seller accepts your request, they will pack up your item and ship it to you.

IMPORTANT: When the item arrives, you will have 3 days to either mark the transaction as complete, or raise a dispute. The 3 day window begins as soon as the package arrives, regardless of whether or not you are there to pick it up. We do this to ensure sellers are paid in a timely manner.

ALSO IMPORTANT: If you take no action within your 3 day window, and a seller can provide tracking information that proves the package arrived more than 3 days ago, Second Skin admins may mark a transaction as complete on your behalf. You will then lose your ability to raise a dispute.

Step 4: Leave feedback

The next step is to leave feedback for the seller. They will be asked to leave feedback for you too. This helps build your reputation as a reliable buyer.

If you believe someone has left you unfair feedback, contact the Second Skin admin team.

Step 5: Enjoy your item

We love hearing about your purchases. If you post on social media, be sure to tag us so we can spread the word and expand our amazing community!
